My name is Amanda and I like it even though I've always gone by Mandy.
by Mandy SueMy name is Amanda Rae and I have NEVER gone by Mandie! I am Amanda, Manda, Mana (my Mom and bestie), Manda Panda, or Princess Panda. In college I joined a sorority called Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII) and our unofficial mascot is the panda. I have a tattoo now of a panda on my back holding the sorority flower the jacqueminot rose. Everyone loves it and it goes well with my name and my history!
by mandarae2006My name is Amanda Jean also and I have never been a fan of my childhood nickname, Mandy. In college I had friends call me Amanda, and that is what I still go by. My family has had a hard time keeping up. If you go with Amanda, come up with a better nickname than Mandy!
by AmandacondaMy name is Amanda. I absolutly love my name! I hated it when I was young, but as I got older I loved it! My nickname is either Mandi or Panda, which my boyfriend calls me all the time. Only family calls me Mandi because I hate that name! But Amanda is very plain and I just think it sounds like a good girl's name. I LOVE MY NAME!!

by kacrumpMy name is Amanda Jean. I HATE being called Mandy, Mandie or Manders. Some of my closest friends call me Manda. And I have one friend who named me Mannie. I like Mannie. In school I was always Manda Panda which I hate, and A-Man-Duh. Grrrrrr
by athalia1446My given name is Amanda, but my mother hates it. She She wanted to name me Mandy, but thought that when I got older I might want to go by Amanda. Only a handful of people in my life have called me Amanda. I tease her that she's the only person I know who would give their child a name they didn't like. One of my husband's nicknames for me is Panda.
by andrewseverythingI have spent thirty years tied to this horribly dull, lifeless name. when i graduated 8th grade in a class of 71 students there were THREE amandas. i love the meaning of my name, but it's just not phonetically pleasing. or unique. or interesting in any way. and people have mistakenly called me 'amber' my entire life. i would not wish my name on anyone else. i don't even like the usual nicknames. mandy, manda... eew. i did have some imaginative friends who came up with alternate options: mandarin, mandolin, and manders. thank god for those kids who actually possessed imagination and creativity; unlike my mother, who gave me the name she found in a True Story magazine while pregnant.
by WinterRain33My name is Amanda and I love it. Depending on how people know me is what they call me. My cousins call me Manda, my closest friends call me Mandie (and the cool thing about going with Mandie you can spell it so many ways), and a lot of people call me Amanda. I asked my mom how they came up with my name, and my dad told me he walked in and said its not A-man and my mom said duh! I thought it was a cute story.
by Amanda Gearharthahaha- I am also Amanda and my brother thought he was soooo clever with the "A-man-duh" thing! I'll be sure to let him know he's really not that original!
by amandajane13My name is Amanda, and I think it's a great name! There are not many ways to tease a girl named Amanda. Like tiger_lily1113 said, kids used to say the same thing to me--"You're A-Man-Duh!" But really, that's not that bad considering how other kids are teased for their names. My dad called me Manda Panda when I was little--I think that's cute. :)
by jmpaarMy name is Amanda, and I love it. It is common enough that people don't screw it up, but it's unique enough that when someone calls out my name, 50 people don't turn around. I get a lot of people wanting to shorten it to Mandy, and I HATE Mandy. I have also gotten, "You're A-Man-Duh." It's usually from stupid friends, but I never got that in school. I am very happy my parents chose this name for me.
by tiger_lily1113my name is Amanda and i just think it is too plain and normal. i like something a little different.
