In part, Trinity’s an extremely Christian name, bringing to mind the belief in God’s three states of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...but in perhaps greater part, Trinity’s a sci-fi-inspired name, surging in popularity thanks to the heroine in The Matrix movie series. In ’99, the year the first film came out, Trinity ranked 204...and the next year, it was number 74. Doesn’t strike us as a coincidence. Since then it’s risen to a peak of 48 in ’04 and ’05 and dropped slightly since then but still remains a trendy name. Our take: Don’t use it unless you’re extremely cool with the first part of the name’s significance...because while The Matrix’s relevance will be fleeting, that Bible thing really won’t.

I love it but my family says it's a "white trash" name and are totally against it. If it is a girl it would be my third daughter and my final child. Not sure what to do.

by babydust2012I had forgotten the biblical reference, we're considering this name (boy or girl) after the Trinity River. The first project my husband and I did in college together. We're also naturalist so it works for us!
