Gremio

Gremio is a boy’s name of Italian, and ultimately Latin, origin. It comes from the Italian word gremio or grembo, meaning “lap,” or “womb.” The word also exists in Spanish, where it refers to a trade or guild of workers. Shakespeare used this name in his play The Taming of the Shrew, where Gremio is a wealthy old man hoping to marry Bianca.
